Gotham City is in peril and it is up to Batman and his allies, such as Robin, Superman, The Flash and other DC Heroes to stop Lex Luthor and The Joker from taking over Gotham City. In this adventure players will battle giant robots and ride (or fly) around Gotham City fighting villains and saving citizens in peril. Players can assume the roles of many DC superheroes such as Batman and Superman to take out crime and save Gotham from the trouble that awaits it. In free play mode, players can also play around the city as the villains.
(NOTE: This review is based off of the main campaign alone and does not include content from optional missions in the game.)
Players will be able to use many different super powers to take out evil and save the world. Some of these super powers include heat vision, frost, batarangs, etc. Batman and Robin can acquire different suits in the game that can be used to solve puzzles as well as to defeat bad guys in an assortment of ways. For example, the electricity suit which can be used by Batman, can electrocute enemies to take them down.
When riding in a vehicle, the player can run over civilians and shoot out rockets and gatling guns to take out enemies or civilians.
When someone dies in this game they just explode into a bunch of Lego pieces. There is no blood or graphic violence. Everything is done in a humorous way.
This is the first Lego game to use voice acting. Words like sour puss, loser, and shut up were the worst words used in the game.
Minor flirting between Lego characters will take place and some will even blow kisses to one another.
One of the things the DC Universe is known for is that some of the characters can use magic. For example, one of the hero characters that can be unlocked in the game is Zatanna. In the DC Universe, Zantanna is known to be the daughter of a powerful wizard who has magic abilities of her own.
Overall this was a humorous game. Kids should have a blast playing this with their friends and even with their families. If you are looking for a more adult Batman game with more action then I would recommend Arkham Asylum or Arkham City, but if you are looking for a cute Lego game to play with your kids, then Lego Batman 2 is one of the better Lego games to come out so far.
