SSX is a reboot of the extreme snowboarding series that features over-the-top tricks, acrobatics, and death-defying spectacles that many of which are completely impossible to pull off in real life. The game is very fast paced and offers a great challenge as the incentive is to compete against the computers or your friends’ scores. The story is very light and character development is basically non-existent. The locations are based-off of real life locations but feature fictitious buildings and obstacles. The game is very arcade-like and is not meant to be a serious simulation of the sport.
What Parents Need to Know
There is no violence really to speak off, except you can knock competing riders off of their snowboards. There is no blood or gore, but riders can take serious spills, which are more cartoon-like than anything else.
There is no foul language present. The only minor concern is some of the lyrics from one song alluding to violence and quotes heard during game-play such as, "You've just been assassinated!" and "This place will split your face open."
Drug / Tobacco Use
SSX is a great return for the franchise. Although there are some new race types I don't really care for in this game; it is a blast to play and I feel is pretty safe for all age ranges.
