If you like Legos and you like Indiana Jones, then you will definitely want to check out Lego Indiana Jones The Original Adventures. The game casts you in the role of Indiana Jones as well as many of the other characters from the films as you journey through different levels cast in settings from the original three movies. The twist of course, as you can tell from the title, is that almost everything is made out of Legos.
As with Traveller’s Tales other famous Lego game, Lego Star Wars, Lego Indiana Jones tells the story in a silent movie type fashion where the characters do not talk and where much tongue-in-cheek humor is added to make the game much more kid friendly. For example, take the famous scene from Temple of Doom where a man has his heart ripped out right before he his human sacrificed. In Lego Indiana Jones the man’s heart is not ripped out, rather he is just lowered close enough to the fire to burn his clothes off in a comedic fashion before he is pulled back up to safety.
Comedic moments like this make Lego Indiana Jones a fun and safe game that the whole family can enjoy. In addition, there is also co-op play allowing two players to play the game at the same time making Lego Indiana Jones a fun game that parents can also play with their kids.
What Parents Need to Know
Just like in the movies, Indiana Jones and the other characters can use guns, whips and of course a bullwhip, but everything is made out of Legos. If a character is shot or hit with a sword, then you see their Lego body fall apart into little Lego pieces.
There is no bad language in Lego Indiana Jones
There is no inappropriate sexual content in Lego Indiana Jones.
In the Temple of Doom levels there are some idols made of Legos in the background. Also, as was mentioned in the “Game Summary” section, there is a kid friendly version of the human sacrifice scene from Temple of Doom where the man gets his clothes burned off in a comedic fashion instead of being sacrificed. There is also a kid friendly version of when the ark is opened from Raiders of the Lost Ark.
The important thing for parents to keep in mind is that anything that might be considered scary to young children from the films has been changed into something that would be considered cute, funny and kid friendly.
A Child’s Perspective: Justin age 11 says Lego Indiana Jones is a fun and puzzling game. He enjoyed it a lot.
Lego Indiana Jones The Original Adventures is a very fun game that the whole family can enjoy. The game plays almost identical to Lego Star Wars, but there are a few more challenging puzzles that younger kids might have a tough time with. Overall, however, Lego Indiana Jones is a great game that the whole family can enjoy no matter what your age.
