A group of evil Tikis from the Tiki Tak Tribe have hypnotized the animals on DK Island and used them to steal Donkey Kong’s stash of bananas. Now Donkey Kong along with his buddy Diddy Kong must complete different levels across DK Island to retrieve the stolen bananas while also attempting to gather puzzle pieces and coins which Donkey Kong can use to unlock items in the game.
Donkey Kong Country is one of the best looking games I have yet seen on the Wii, but it is also one of the more challenging platforms games I have played on the Wii. Still, even with its challenge, the game is extremely fun. Plus, if you want to play with a friend, Diddy Kong becomes available for co-op play.
What Parents Need to Know
Donkey Kong will jump on enemies, roll into enemies and pound on blocks. Everything is done in very mild cartoon style violence.
There is not any bad language in this game.
There is not any sexual content in this game.
The main antagonists in the game are a group of evil Tikis who use a hypnotic power to control the animals on DK Island to steal all the bananas and also to attack Donkey Kong.
Donkey Kong Country Returns is a load of fun! If you are a fan of the original Donkey Kong Country games on the Super Nintendo, then you will definitely want to check this new one out. If you have never played a Donkey Kong Country game before, but love side scrolling platformer games, then this is a great game to add to your Wii library. As far as difficulty, I found Donkey Kong Country Returns to be a bit more challenging than last year’s New Super Mario Bros. Wii, so casual or very young gamers may not enjoy the challenge. Experienced gamers, however, who enjoy a good challenge and like old school side scrolling platform games will find it hard not to enjoy Donkey Kong Country Returns.
