Crackdown 2 places the player in the role of an Agent, a cybernetically enhanced clone, created by the city-funded organization simply known as the Agency. Set 10 years after the events of the first game, the gangs of Pacific City are gone, but the city is far from being at peace. A terrorist group called Cell and mutated humans called Freaks are wreaking havoc in the city. Your role, as an Agent, is to be a super-cop and bring the bad guys to justice by any means necessary.
Crackdown 2 is a third-person sand-box style game that features an expansive city to explore. It supports one player locally and up to 4 players via Xbox Live. You can also take part in races, collecting various items, and taking on Cell strongholds. Being a sand-box style game, you can proceed in any way that you choose.
Crackdown 2 also features an upgrade system in which you can enhance the skills of your agent based on your actions. For example, the more you fire your weapon, the more your weapon skill increases; the more you use explosives, the more your explosive skill will rise. One of the more enjoyable aspects of the game is collecting “Agility Orbs” that are littered around the city. By collecting these orbs, you are able to enhance your Agent's ability to jump and eventually unlock the power to glide, which makes navigating the city much easier. You can also commandeer and unlock various types of vehicles that can be used to reach destinations, or be used to just run enemies over.
What Parents Need to Know
There is a good amount of violence and blood in this game. Enemies bleed when shot or hit. Blood will pool on the ground for a short amount of time. Enemies can be run over and blown apart which can cause large amounts of blood and flying limbs to go everywhere. Enemies can also be set on fire.
It should also be noted that you can kill civilians and “Peace Keepers” in this game, although it is highly discouraged as your boss will verbally reprimand you. This will also cause the game's “Peace Keepers” to start attacking you as the enemy.
Crackdown 2 features quite a bit of bad language. Commonly used words are f**k, da**, b*tch, hell, and a**hole.
There is not any sexual content in this game.
There is not any spiritual content in this game.
Having not played the first game, which I was told was a much better game, I initially found myself enjoying Crackdown 2. But after a while the game became very repetitive and quickly boring. Although I found it to offer some fun in short bursts, there are other games that are far more fun in my opinion that contain less blood, gore, and bad language. Parents should keep in mind the violence and bad language when deciding if this game is appropriate for their family.
